Spoken Word from Hammer and Tongue, bringing some of the top names in London performance poetry.

Hammer and Tongue are the biggest promoters of slam poetry in the UK – “the best community oriented gigs in Britain. They have created a living, breathing monster of poetry. Where else can you stage dive at a poetry gig?” – Mark Gwynne Jones, U.K performance poet

Salena Godden – glamorous author, poet and singer who has featured with the likes of Coldcut and Alabama 3 and is a regular on BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live. Recently returned from international literary festival in Bali, she will be rocking up at Pogo with her naughty, Bukowski esque tales and her underground-lovable-punk-ska cool.

Tim Wells – Hackney geezer and Cockney wit. Published by Donut Press, his first collection was shortlisted for the prestigious Forward Prize. He brings a love of reggae, a natty suit and a good dose of East London humour.

curious – MC turned poet from North-West London. Too political for hip-hop, he’s turned to poetry recently, featuring at festivals, winning slams and creating his own poetry scene with the newly established Wordamouth crew. Sharp-tongued, intelligent and rude-as-fuck.

Angry Sam – Host of Hammer and Tongue in Hackney. Politically charged, hip-hop influenced poetry that deals with modern life: taking the piss out of the ephemeral and celebrating the eternal all at the same time.

For donations.
